New Delhi:

After changing the Chief Minister in Punjab Congress, now the stir has intensified in other states. The Congress high command has started paying attention to Rajasthan. This is the reason why former party national president Rahul Gandhi held marathon meetings with former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot on September 17. Sources say that in this meeting, along with the latest situation in Rajasthan, a strategy was also prepared regarding the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is being told that this is the first meeting of Rahul Gandhi this year regarding the situation in Rajasthan.

Actually Sachin Pilot was the President and Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Congress till July 2020. During this, the news of Ashok Gehlot and his past tussle started coming to the fore. There came a time when the discord between the two came to the fore. After this both the posts were withdrawn from Sachin Pilot. Now once again, according to a party source, during the meeting of Rahul and Sachin, the reinstatement of Pilot in Rajasthan was discussed seriously.

less chance of major changes
Party sources say that like Punjab, there is little chance of any major reshuffle in Rajasthan. However, the Congress high command does not want to take it lightly. The entire focus of the party is currently on the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand. Elections are to be held in all these states in the first six months of 2022. At the same time, the party is also keeping an eye on the situation in Rajasthan.

Another senior Congress leader said, “Rahul Gandhi’s plan is to make changes in the states keeping in mind the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. If there is a change and Pilot returns to the Rajasthan government, it should be seen as a preparation for the Congress for the next general election. Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are the only states where Congress is giving direct competition to BJP.
