Southern Railway has beefed up security at all major stations across Tamil Nadu including Chennai Central, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Jholarpet, Arakkonam. Tamil Nadu Police is on high alert. Intelligence has been received that the protesting youth may lead attacks on railway stations and railway properties after arson and burning of trains in several northern states.

A large number of RPF, GRP and police personnel are deployed at Dr. MGR Chennai Central Railway Station and other stations. Police vigil was also increased on the platforms for any kind of nuisance. Although Chennai is still untouched by this movement, there is no report of any untoward incident or agitation anywhere, as a precautionary measure, security of major stations has been increased in view of intelligence inputs.

Not only this, common passengers were explained to them in terms of safety and people roaming around at the station were also excluded. The policemen are fully prepared from the station premises to outside.
