Terrible crisis of coal extracted from the country’s mines. In that situation, the central government decided to take several steps to increase the use of imported coal. Recently, Union Power Minister RK Singh met officials of several state governments, including Gujarat. Independent Power Producers were also present at the meeting. There, Minister Saf informed that the demand for domestic coal in power plants should be reduced.
Originally imported coal is usually used in power plants by mixing 4 percent. This time it has been said to increase it to 10 percent. Basically, the power plants have been asked to ensure that the coal reserves are adequate. Because if coal reserves are not adequate, it can become a big problem in power generation.
According to a Gujarat government official, the power plants have enough coal stocks that can be used for 11 days. However, states like Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra and Rajasthan have also been asked to report the manner in which the Gujarat government is trying to resolve the issue. Strategies are being taken to reduce the demand for domestic coal. In that case, emphasis is being laid on meeting the deficit with imported coal.
According to the Union Minister, the highest demand for electricity may be in April. In that case coal stocks should be kept in order. On the other hand, companies like Adani Power, Tata Power, Acer Power are also thinking of giving multiple concessions in coal import.
