Rohit Kumar, Editor: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has arrived in Assam on a two-day tour of the Northeast. He arrived at Guwahati Airport late at night. State Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal himself was present at the airport to welcome Amit Shah. Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone for several government projects in Guwahati today. He will also distribute financial assistance among the 8000 Namghar Vaishnava saints of Assam. Apart from this, he will also hold a review meeting of election preparations with the party leaders regarding the assembly elections going to be held in Assam next year.

Amit Shah is on a two-day tour of Assam and Manipur from today. Here he will inaugurate new projects in both the north-eastern states. During this time he will lay the foundation stone of Batadrav as a cultural and tourism center.

Northeast Democratic Alliance convenor Himanta Vishwa Sarma said that Home Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone of the country’s largest medical college and hospital to be set up in Guwahati at a cost of Rs 860 crore. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and senior officials of the state government will discuss various issues related to the state with him.

After this, on Tuesday, 27 December (Sunday), Shah will go to Manipur from Guwahati. On Sunday morning, Shah will offer prayers at the Kamakhya temple here and leave for Manipur. In Manipur, the Home Minister will lay the foundation stone for several projects, including a medical college. He will then return to Delhi from Manipur on 27 December.

Let me tell you that in 2016 assembly elections in Assam did not come clean mandate. Here no party had an absolute majority in the current assembly. Here the State Election Committee has been formed with the consent of BJP National President JP Nadda.

Let us know that the assembly elections are due in Assam in 2021 next year. For this reason, Shah will also discuss the preparations for BJP’s assembly elections during his visit. Elections for the 126-member assembly of Assam are expected to be held in March-April of 2021.
