Apart from captain Rishabh Pant, opener Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel and African pacer Enrique Narkhia have been retained by the management of Delhi Capitals for next year’s IPL. Taking some tough decisions, the management of Delhi Capitals has released India opener Shikhar Dhawan, experienced bowler Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer for auction. The names of the players retained by all other teams will be announced by November 30.
Under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals showed a great game this season and traveled to the semi-finals. Rishabh Pant was handed the captaincy of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021 due to Shreyas Iyer’s injury.
Rajasthan Royals can retain these four players
If we talk about Rajasthan Royals, then before the auction, it can retain four of its players. The team management can put their trust in Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Livingstone. Although only two foreign players can be retained by a team, it remains to be seen which of these three may have to be left out by the Rajasthan Royals management.
what are the retention rules
Till November 30, all the eight old teams will have their own list of retained players. All eight franchises can retain a maximum of four players in the team. In which the combination can be three Indians, one foreigner or two Indians, two foreigners. Bar franchise teams will not have the option of right to match. All the franchise teams will have ₹90 crore. If a franchise retains four players, then 42 crores will be deducted from its 90 crores. Similarly, if a team retains only one player, it will be deducted Rs 14 crore instead.
