New Delhi: We all are fond of delicious and healthy food and in such a situation everyone wants to know where the food is best and of better quality. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has released the ranking of states on the basis of food safety for this year.
Gujarat and Kerala on top
In this ranking, in terms of quality of food, Gujarat, Kerala and Tamil Nadu have topped. Apart from this, Goa has come first, Meghalaya second and Manipur third among smaller states. Among the Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir is at number one, Andaman and Nicobar is second and Delhi is at number three.
The ranking of Odisha and Himachal Pradesh has also improved. Odisha was ranked 13th in the rankings for the year 2018-19 but is at the fourth position this year. Similarly, Himachal has come from number 10 to number six. The food of the states was judged on these five parameters, which include human resources, compliance with the rules, testing facilities, training and consumer rights.

In India, the work of reducing the amount of trans fat in prepared food like biscuits, namkeen, cake, juice etc. is also being done rapidly. India has achieved great success in this matter. The results of this survey have been released by the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
Samples of 6 types of food were taken from 419 cities in 34 states of India. A total of 6245 samples were tested, out of which only 84 samples i.e. 1.34% samples were found to contain trans fat in excess of 3 percent. India aims to be trans fat free before the next Independence Day.

Trans fat means artificially converting hydrogen into vegetable oil. This is the same ghee that usually looks frozen. Trans fat is commonly used in making biscuits, rusks to cakes. Trans fat is believed to be responsible for obesity and increasing bad cholesterol in the body.

Apart from this, now mobile vans have been launched to improve the quality of food. Now the mobile food testing van will come to your nearest dhaba and test the food live. Mobile food testing vans will now do the work of on-the-spot testing of food in India. At present, 19 vans have been launched and there are plans to increase their number to 109 soon.
