Pune, Jun 27 (PTI) A probe into the death of nine family members of two brothers in Maharashtra’s Sangli district has revealed that they were allegedly poisoned to death by a tantrik and his driver. Police said on Monday that both the accused have been arrested.
Earlier it was believed to be a case of suicide. The bodies of the family members were found on June 20 at the homes of the two brothers, located a kilometer away, in Mhaisal village. One of them was a teacher and the other a veterinarian.
In the initial investigation, it was believed to be a suicide due to being in debt.
Inspector General of Police (Kolhapur Range) Manoj Kumar Lohia said, “We have arrested a tantrik and his driver in connection with the murder. Investigation revealed that the duo allegedly took the lives of nine family members by poisoning them.
A police officer said that a case will be registered under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
