Own report: Absolutely dead pitch. There is no help for the bowlers. More than one batter of the two teams reigned for five days on such a pitch. Naturally everyone collected the basket run. Neither batsman had to return empty-handed. Although Numan Ali Chena took 6 wickets, it was the batsmen of both the teams who turned the stick. As a result, the first Test of the series ended as expected with a harmless draw.
Imam-ul-Haq scored a century for Pakistan in both the innings. Besides, Azhar Ali scored in the first innings and Abdullah Shafiq in the second innings. Usman Khwaja, Marnus Labushan and Steve Smith lost hundreds for Australia.
In the first innings, 156 runs came from Imam’s bat. He remained unbeaten on 111 in the second innings. This Imam had to listen to various things about getting a chance in the team at one time. Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq’s nephew responded to the critics with a bat. It is to be noted that Imam did not score a century in the first 11 Test matches of his life. He had three half centuries. His highest run in Tests was 6. In the twelfth Test, the left-handed batsman seemed to have overcome that regret by scoring a pair of hundreds. Pakistan’s other opener Shafiq remained unbeaten on 136 runs. Made the first century of his Test career.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. They declared the first innings with 47 runs for 4 wickets. Imam scored 156 and Azhar 165 runs. Batting in reply, Australia were all out for 459 in their first innings. Khwaja scored 98, Warner 6, Labushan 90, Smith 6 and Green 47. Numan Ali took 6 wickets for 106 runs.
Batting in the second innings, Pakistan scored 252 runs without wickets and the match was declared a draw. Imam remained unbeaten on 111 and Shafiq on 138. Imam became the best of the match.
After the match, Imam said, “I have scored hundreds in both innings against Australia. Their bowling attack is good enough. Running against the best teams means improving my cricketing life. I have tried to play normally. I have waited for a bad ball.”
The second Test match of the Australia-Pakistan series will be played in Karachi. The two teams will meet again from March 12 at 22 yards. For Cummins’ safety, there is impeccable security throughout the series, including Karachi.
