Police freed 110 animals in Mathura, three drivers arrested

Mathura, Sep 21 (PTI) In Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, police have arrested the drivers under the Cruelty to Animals Act by recovering 110 cattle being brutally taken to Aligarh in three vehicles.

According to the police, information was received from the informer on Monday that inter-state cattle smugglers are taking more than a hundred animals in three vehicles from Agra to Aligarh. Police station in-charge Sadar MP Chaturvedi checked everyone at the barrage turn and recovered them.

According to Chaturvedi, out of these animals, two buffaloes and their four children died. Police have found 15 buffaloes and one buffalo and 90 padde-padiyas alive. The drivers have been arrested under relevant sections of the Cruelty to Animals Act and the vehicles have been impounded.

The station in-charge said that the arrested inter-state cattle smugglers include Shakeel, a resident of Kagarol in Agra, Abid of Mohalla Merchant in Sadabad town of Hathras and Aslam, a resident of Itai Pada of Kotwali town of Dholpur district of Rajasthan.
