The Trinamool Congress and the BJP have started the work of laying their respective pieces for the four by-elections to the impending assembly in West Bengal. The BJP has intensified its efforts to polarize the state against the ongoing communal violence in Bangladesh. On the other hand, Trinamool Congress is targeting the Modi government at the Center on this matter to save minority votes.
BJP is trying to bring in the Bengali speaking voters of Dinhata, Shantipur, Gosaba, Khardah assembly constituencies who have migrated from Bangladesh and settled here. These include the people of Matua community settled in Shantipur.
Keeping the minority vote bank in mind, Trinamool leader and state education minister Bratya Basu raised the issue of protection of India’s minorities on the pretext of attack on Hindus in Bangladesh. He has said that minorities should be protected in all countries. The minorities of the country have become insecure under the Modi government.
Here the BJP is raising the issue of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh as well as the vandalism of some Durga Puja pandals in Bengal. Party’s national vice president Dilip Ghosh wrote in his tweet that a puja pandal located at Egra Central Bus Stand in East Medinipur district was vandalized. The top police officers got the idol immersed there to suppress the matter. Is Bengal also going to become Bangladesh?
Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari wrote in his tweet that in view of the attack in Bangladesh, police are stationed outside a puja pandal at Kolaghat in East Medinipur. The administration is scared of the possibility of sabotage there. What do pseudo and so-called intellectuals have to say about such a condition of the only mother land of Bengali Hindus? Congress MP Prof. Pradeep Bhattacharya said that Trinamool and BJP should not do politics regarding the attack in Bangladesh.
