It is noteworthy that the water hyacinth absorbs the water of the pond, due to which the pond gradually dries up. Due to the drying up of the ponds, water is not available for the animals to drink and the villagers for irrigation. The DM said that after removing the water hyacinth from the ponds, the environment would also be clean and the rain water would collect and irrigate the land of the pond.
Anil Singh, Banda: These days the campaign ‘Remove water hyacinth, save the pond’ is going on in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. On Monday, the ponds were cleaned by removing the water hyacinth that had been frozen for years in 50 ponds throughout the day. During this, District Magistrate of Banda Anurag Patel, setting an example, cleaned the pond himself. The DM stood in the water for about four hours and removed the water hyacinth. The villagers were also excited to see the DM doing this and they gave him full support.
