Tamil Nadu Health Minister Subramanian to meet Union Minister Mandaviya in Delhi

If the demand for vaccination of 5 lakh people is met, the state will complete the vaccination of its entire population by the end of December.

Tamil Nadu Medical and Family Welfare Minister MA Subramanian is scheduled to meet Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on Friday. During this time he can request for more allocation of Kovid-19 vaccines for the state.

The state is requesting additional one-time allocation of 1 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines to increase the number of vaccinations per day to 5 lakh. According to a study by the Tamil Nadu Health Department, if the demand for vaccination of 5 lakh people is met, the state will complete the vaccination of its entire population by the end of December.

Tamil Nadu has got more allocation for the month of September. According to the health minister’s office, the state has also prepared a detailed proposal on the time frame in which the health department and local bodies will complete the vaccination process if the special allocation is allowed.

Subramanian and his team included state health secretary J. Radhakrishnan, who will also tell Mandaviya that he has already immunized 95 per cent of the teaching and non-teaching staff, paving the way for the reopening of schools for higher classes in the state.

He will also give information about the campaign of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Madurai. The state health department will also request the Center to provide adequate funds for the up-gradation of primary health centres.
