Art refers to that tendency, which nurtures joy in life in a positive way. Michelangelo said – ‘True artwork is a divine replica. Indian tradition considers a person devoid of interest in art and literature as an animal without a tail. What a rock singer did during her performance in America in the past does not link art to the concept of divinity, but reminds Freud of the famous psychologist that art is the expression of passions buried in the heart.

Sofia Urista is a 35-year-old American singer and associated with the music band Brass Against. During a live show on November 11th, Sofia Urista did a very stupid act on stage. The video of the incident went viral and the world was condemned for this sloppiness in the name of art. Seven days after the incident, Sofia wrote a post on her Instagram account and apologized for this act. Experts say that it was a propaganda gimmick. Few people in the world knew Sofia Urista, but after this incident, she is being discussed everywhere. This incident is an example of how the pursuit of cheap popularity drives some people to flout norms.

Sofia Urista isn’t the first artist to do something like this during her performance. While art is considered a spiritual practice in India and Indian classical singers still remember their adoration before their performances, for some in the West, art is simply a means of displaying their disorderly moods. Artists like Ozzy Obsume, Jeanne Simmons, Shannen Hoon, who are called legends in the world of rock music, have become a victim of public criticism by doing such acts on stage.

Art is a medium for the enjoyment of gentlemen. Of course, the expressions hidden in the mind are expressed through arts, but this expression is so soft and creative that even while representing the desires of the human mind, it awakens sensation and reverence in the human mind. Jayadeva’s composition Gita Govinda describes the courtship of Radha-Krishna, but does not arouse passion in the mind of the reader or listener. Evil acts done for cheap popularity lead to clumsiness in the practice of art and this crudeness gives only reproach to any name. A true seeker must avoid this.
