Ankara: Turkey has insisted on maintaining peace in Libya after the delay in the presidential election, noting that all aspects related to the election must be decided by the Libyan people through a legal framework.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Turkey supports the elections in Libya, considering it important in the transition process, Xinhua news agency reported. Libya’s presidential election, which was scheduled for 24 December, has been postponed because the candidates did not meet the conditions.
The ministry said that conducting elections in a fair, credible and free manner, the recognition of election results by all parties and the exercise of authority by the new government across the country, is critical to ensuring Libya’s unity and integrity.
Turkey played a key role in establishing a ceasefire and establishing peace on the ground. As well as advancing the political process in Libya, it has advocated from the outset that elections should be held on a sound legal basis, through the widest possible consensus among all relevant institutions in accordance with the Libyan Political Agreement. able to reach
