US climate envoy John Kerry may visit India soon

New Delhi, Jan 11 (PTI) US climate envoy John Kerry is likely to visit India soon to take forward the ‘Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue’ between India and the US. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.

Some officials say that Kerry could visit India by the end of this month, depending on the situation in Kovid. While others say that the date of Kerry’s tour has not been decided yet.

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Monday said after talks with Kerry that India is on track to achieve the promises made in COP26 and the Paris Agreement in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Life Mantra’.

The minister had said that India and the US have agreed to take forward the ‘Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue’.

Yadav had tweeted, “Had a fruitful conversation with John Kerry, US Ambassador for Climate Affairs. We agreed to take forward the India-US ‘Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue’.

“India is well on track to achieve the promises made in COP26 and Paris Agreement as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Life Mantra’,” he said.
